SALCET – Mandate and Policy Document

SALCET Governing Document

The governance of the SALCET charity underpins the mission statement namely –Relief of poverty, sickness, and distress and the preservation of good health of children and their relatives who are suffering as a result of earthquakes or any other natural disaster in El Salvador and other vulnerable countries. Medical and humanitarian relief are offered including to chronic disasters through whatever cause resulting in poverty with appropriate follow up and monitoring.

The charity seeks to provide advice, guidance and resources for vulnerable children and their families within disaster-prone countries.

Resources include the provision of equipment; training and empowerment for those giving first hand care both family members and field workers.

SALCET will comply with all the stipulations of charity law and will ensure transparency, openness and accountability in all its working practice.

SALCET will seek funding from individuals and local churches, and will, as appropriate, apply for funds from grant making bodies.

SALCET will ensure good accounting policy and use reputable accountants annually to maintain the diligence and efficient running of the charity.

The trustees will meet quarterly to monitor progress and plan for future activity in targeted countries including El Salvador, Uganda and Kenya.

The trustee board will have the right to seek and appoint new trustees to maintain continuity and succession of the work and mission and appropriate references will be sought as applicable.

Complaints procedure:

SALCET aims to provide a high quality service meeting the needs of the vulnerable children and their families which it serves in vulnerable countries. If however you hold any concerns or misgivings about the service in general or any particular action or strategy we welcome your constructive comments and will give due consideration to any specific complaint whatever the reason.

If the complaint concerns the general operation of the charity then the matter should be referred to the SALCET board of trustees via the Chairman Dr Christopher Jagger.

If the complaint concerns a specific incident during the operative work either in the UK or abroad this will be considered with due diligence at either a quarterly meeting of the trustee board or at an EGM as appropriate.

In general complaints should be made in writing and sent to the Chairman at Tennyson Cottage, Weston Lane, Totland, Isle of Wight PO39 0HE.

If the complaint is directed to the Chairman himself then the concern should be directed to Natalie Walter, trustee at the following email address admin@salcet.com

All complaints whether received verbally or in writing will be logged appropriately.

Acknowledgment of a written or electronically-received complaint will be given within three working days of receiving the communication.
